Deborah S. Sherer
I love the written word and the magic of creation. Before earning my Master of Art in Teaching Art from the University of South Carolina, my journey began with a degree in Literature. Over my 40-year career as a Master Teacher of Art, I have taught students of all ages—from young children in kindergarten to university students studying studio painting and adult enthusiasts discovering their craft.
Teaching art by day, I saved my writing for the night, exploring my dreams and stories. My personal work reflects a mature perspective on life—exploring love, joy, and emotional depth with the belief that our wishes and desires only grow richer with age. As a widow, mother of five, and grandmother, I am blessed to spend my days in Lexington, South Carolina, painting, writing, and enjoying the beauty of God’s nature.
How I Work
I begin with lived experience, moving fluidly between page and canvas while letting grief, romance, and everyday beauty guide my hand.
• On the Page: I write into the night, crafting heartfelt stories that celebrate hope, love, and emotional truth.
• On the Canvas: I paint using watercolor, oil, acrylic, and mixed media to capture light, color, and quiet moments.
• In the Studio: I bring 40 years of teaching experience into every brushstroke and sentence, always seeking to touch your soul and help you see your own story differently.
